Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a versatile, low-impact exercise system designed to improve flexibility, strength, and body awareness. It was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. The method focuses on controlled movements, breathing techniques, and proper alignment to enhance core strength, improve posture, and increase overall mobility.

What should I expect in a typical Pilates class?

A typical Pilates session will include a warm-up, followed by exercises that target various muscle groups. A class may incorporate a combination of mat exercises or equipment. Instructors will guide you through proper form, breathing techniques, and movement execution. The Line team will work with you each time to deliver a fun,
challenging routine that keeps you moving toward your goals.

What are the benefits of Pilates?

Pilates offers several physical and mental benefits, including:

  • Core strength: Focuses on strengthening the muscles of the abdomen, lower back, and pelvis.
  • Flexibility: Improves flexibility in both the spine and the limbs.
  • Posture: Helps with alignment and posture through mindful movement.
  • Balance and coordination: Promotes better body awareness and stability.
  • Stress relief: The controlled breathing and mind-body connection can help reduce stress and promote relaxation.
  • Injury prevention: By increasing strength and flexibility, Pilates can help prevent common injuries, especially in the back and joints.
